Valentines Day Breakfast Pancakes

Pancakes are one of the easiest breakfasts to make and what better way to show someone you care on Valentines day than making them pink, heart shaped pancakes on that special day!

Basic Pancake Recipe

1 egg

1 cup of milk

1 cup of flour

1 teaspoon baking powder

Mix all of the ingredients together and for a  special valentines treat, add a few drops of red food coloring until you get your desired shade of pink. To cook them, you just need to put a little butter or oil in a frying pan over medium heat and pour the batter in. Little bubbles will form and when they start to pop, its time to flip the pancake over. A minute on the other side and its ready to take out of the pan and eat!

To make it a truely special treat, however, use a small spoon to “draw” with the batter. You can put initials, draw heart outlines and then fill them in or even write names…just be sure to write them backwards because once you flip the pancake, it will be the opposite. :) Here are a few examples of what you can do with pancakes.

This is the design I started with to make the pancake at the top of this post. I let it cook for a minute and then poured the rest of the batter overtop.
