Jello and Pudding Go Gourmet

Jello Heart

This cute little heart is the perfect dessert for kids and husbands (I speak from experience, the entire pan was gobbled up by my family in minutes, I was lucky to get this photo!) and it`s very simple to make.

Sweethearts

1 package Cherry or Strawberry Jello
1 package plain gelatin
1 package instant vanilla pudding
2 Tblsp. cornstarch
red food coloring

First Layer:

Mix both the plain gelatin and Jello powder and dissolve in two cups of boiling water. Add another cup of cold water.

Pour the Jello mixture into a 9×9″ pan and put in the fridge until set.

Second Layer:

Dissolve the contents of the pudding package in milk, as directed on the package, but whisk in the extra cornstarch. Add food coloring to tint according to the color you want.

Next, heat according to the directions, stirring constantly until the mixture thickens. Let it cool for about ten minutes or until you can touch it.

Spread the pudding over the Jello layer and leave in the fridge for 4 hours or overnight.

Now comes the fun part. You`ll need heart shaped cookie cutters, any size and a pancake flipper. Press the cutter into the dessert and lift carefully, cutter and all, with the pancake flipper and gently shake the pudding loose onto a plate.

You can serve this as is or with whipped cream.
