Dine Without Whine - A Family Friendly Weekly Menu Plan

Super Simple Kid-Friendly Chilli

chili soup recipeYou might be surprised at just how quickly you can whip up a nice comfort food. Right now, with cold weather in so many places, it`s about time to look at some of the more warming foods and chili is one of them! I personally make this on nights when I don`t have much time . . . it`s something everyone likes, even my picky husband and toddler!

Super Simple Chili

2 tomatoes, chopped

1/2 lb. hamburger meat

1 onion, diced

1 tsp. garlic powder

1 tsp. dried basil

1 large can beans (red, black, use whatever your family prefers)

salt and pepper

Dried chili pepper to taste (I leave this out completely)

Sauté the onion in a little bit of oil and add the hamburger as soon as the onions turn translucent. Stir and break into chunks, cooking until the meat is browned, about 10 minutes.

Add chopped tomatoes, stir in. Now add beans, juice and all and season. Let everything simmer together for 10 minutes and you`re ready to serve. I like to add a piece of crusty bread to dip into the chili.
