Choco-Banano Homemade Ice Cream

chocolate banana ice cream

Here in Guatemala, choco-bananos are a very popular snack for kids on hot days. They are just frozen bananas on a stick, dipped into chocolate and refrozen. Sometimes they have crushed peanuts on them. I decided to take this to a more sophisticated level with Choco-Banano ice cream. It turned out wonderfully and was SO delicious that it vanished the same day I made it.

This recipe is very simple, though it does require an ice cream maker.

Choco-Banano Ice Cream

Makes about 1.5 liters

1 c. milk
2 c. cream
1 c. sugar
2 c. bananas
2 plain chocolate bars

Blend milk and bananas in the blender, then mix with sugar and cream in the ice cream machine. Follow your machine’s directions to make the ice cream.

When the ice cream is done, you can either drop in the broken up chocolate, or melt it and let cool slightly, the pour into the machine as it runs to create ribbons of chocolate.
